Jennifer Long grew up understanding what it means to be part of a community — not just to live in one, but to show up for it. From working alongside families facing homelessness to serving on a local government board, Jennifer has spent her career close to the people of District 77, listening to their struggles and fighting for practical solutions. She is not a career politician. She is a neighbor, an advocate, and a believer that real change starts at the local level — with someone who actually knows the community they serve.
A Career in Healthcare
With 10 years of experience in the healthcare field, Jennifer has seen firsthand how policy decisions affect real patients and families. She understands the complexity of healthcare systems and the importance of protecting individual choice — not expanding bureaucratic control over personal medical decisions.
Legal Training & Constitutional Commitment
Jennifer earned her law degree from Western Michigan Cooley Law School, giving her a deep understanding of constitutional principles, individual rights, and the rule of law. She believes every piece of legislation should be measured against one standard: does it protect individual rights, or does it infringe upon them?
Service on the DDA Board
For nearly five years, Jennifer has served on the Lansing Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board. This experience gave her direct exposure to local government operations, budget decisions, and community planning — the kind of practical, ground-level governance experience that translates directly to effective representation in Lansing.
Homeless Outreach & Community Advocacy
Jennifer has spent years working directly with individuals and families experiencing homelessness. This work gave her firsthand insight into the systemic challenges facing vulnerable members of our community — and reinforced her belief that real solutions come from community-driven action, not top-down mandates.

Limited Government
The role of government should be limited to protecting individual rights, maintaining essential public services, and ensuring fair and consistent laws — not micromanaging the daily lives of citizens.
Accountability to Constituents
Elected officials should answer to the people who elected them — not to party leadership, lobbyists, or special interests. Jennifer will always put District 77 first.
Transparency in Government
Citizens deserve to know how their tax dollars are spent and how decisions are made. Jennifer will push for open records, public hearings, and clear communication from Lansing.
Local Decision-Making
The people closest to a problem are best positioned to solve it. Jennifer believes in returning decision-making power to local communities rather than centralizing it in the state capital.
Lower Taxes
Michigan families are already stretched thin. Excessive taxation takes money out of the hands of the people who earned it. Jennifer will fight to reduce the tax burden so families and small businesses can keep more of what they earn.
Housing Affordability
Overregulation, zoning restrictions, and government red tape drive up the cost of housing. Jennifer supports reducing bureaucratic barriers so that more homes can be built, more families can afford them, and the market can work for everyone.
Privacy & Protection from Government Overreach
Your personal life, your data, and your private decisions are none of the government's business. Jennifer will stand firmly against surveillance, warrantless searches, and any legislation that erodes the privacy rights guaranteed to every American under the Constitution.
